About the position

Sonalysts, Inc. is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with expertise in undersea weapons and/or Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (UUV) systems. The role involves critical thinking and communication skills to support testing and engineering functions for unmanned systems, combat systems, and torpedo development projects. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of mission-critical undersea weapons and UUV hardware and software across all phases of the system development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise undersea weapons and/or unmanned system development and testing.
  • Model and simulate undersea weapons and/or unmanned systems.
  • Integrate hardware and software of government-owned weapons and/or UUVs.
  • Assist government teams with engineering development and system integration.
  • Participate in all areas of the weapon and/or UUV development lifecycle from planning through test evaluation.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen with an active Department of Defense SECRET (or higher) security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Ocean, or Systems Engineering or related technical degree.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience including at-sea operations.
  • Mentally and physically able to conduct or attend testing evolutions at sea.
  • Significant undersea weapon or UUV experience including building, testing, or operating undersea weapons or unmanned systems/vehicles.
  • Experience with the full spectrum of undersea weapons or UUV systems including sonar and communications systems, operating systems, and hardware integration.
  • Concept of operations, mission planning, and post-mission analysis.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior military service in US Navy, especially involving UUVs.
  • Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Ocean, or Systems Engineering or related fields.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and communications skills with a dynamic group.
  • Knowledge of UUV autonomy frameworks and employment in complex environments.
