About the position

The Senior Systems Engineer at GE Systems Power Generation will provide technical leadership in developing innovative solutions and ensuring engineering excellence. This role focuses on systems development for new product introductions, particularly in the aerospace sector, and involves collaboration with various teams to meet customer demands while maintaining high performance and reliability standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead systems development efforts for new product introductions.
  • Work closely with Design and Systems Teams to ensure full specification compliance and resolve problems timely.
  • Collaborate with Project and Program Managers to develop and execute program/project plans.
  • Implement robust requirements management practices using industry-standard tools.
  • Conduct thorough system analysis to identify risks, dependencies, and integration challenges.
  • Elicit, derive, and decompose requirements to lower-level subsystems and components.
  • Coordinate with customers on specification derivation questions.
  • Develop test execution procedures to demonstrate compliance with specifications.
  • Troubleshoot system failures and performance issues, coordinating with development roles.
  • Serve as a primary technical liaison between customers and internal technical teams.
  • Participate in LEAN engineering activities, including release planning and design reviews.
  • Ensure cross-system dependencies and integration activities are addressed in the program plan.
  • Support projects throughout their entire life-cycle from conception to post-launch.
  • Communicate complex information clearly to promote agreement among stakeholders.
  • Coach system engineers and team members.
  • Assist in Model-Based Systems Engineering activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Systems Engineering role.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in an engineering role.
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to government contract restrictions.

  • Proven track record in systems engineering with a focus on electrical power systems in aerospace.
  • Excellent communication skills for articulating complex technical concepts.
  • Experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering.
  • Aerospace industry experience.
  • Strong accountability to program deliverables including quality and performance.
  • Ability to manage risk and uncertainty in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong technical acumen across various technology domains.
  • Experience with DO-178c and DO-254 processes.
  • Experience executing DO-160 and MIL-STD-160 tests.
  • Proficient in managing requirements using DOORS Classic and DOORS Next Generation.
  • MATLAB / Simulink experience.
