The Systems Engineering Directorate is the central focus for Mission Systems Integration activities within Raytheon, responsible for defining customer needs, functional and product architecture, requirements definition and decomposition, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), system performance, and System Security Engineering (SSE). The Land Warfare and Missile Defense Systems (LWMDS) Department supports Raytheon by providing world class technical expertise and engineering leadership to drive the design and development of world-class Air and Missile Defense Systems, Sensors, and Effectors. The LWMDS department leads all aspects of Systems Engineering that drive the development of complex systems to support Raytheon's business areas from our Colorado Springs, CO location. LWMDS Department Systems Engineers solve technical challenges at the System of System (SoS), System, Subsystem, and Component levels. Key technical domains include; Architecture, Requirements, Interface Definition, Radar Systems, Effector Systems, Battle Management, Command and Control, Communications, Network Design, and Battlespace Integration and Interoperability for Domestic and International customers. Are you an Engineer looking for a unique and exciting opportunity developing future Missile Defense System (MDS) capabilities? Our Systems Engineers define, characterize, and develop and document Missile Defense System (MDS) capabilities through work in several areas of systems engineering including architecture / requirements and performance modeling and analysis for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).

Responsibilities

  • Contributing to publishing change notices to MDA's system specification
  • Updating requirements databases, architectural models, interface definitions, and design packages
  • Allocate and Trace System and Element level requirements
  • Document analysis results in reports and briefings for critique and review by internal and external stakeholders
  • Create and present briefings within the team and to the MDA and other stakeholders

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 5 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Experience in systems engineering
  • Active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • Experience with Cameo
  • Experience with DOORS
  • Experience using MBSE - Model Based System Engineering
  • Extensive experience with MATLAB, Python, C/C++
  • Experience using numerical modeling and simulation (M&S) using MATLAB, or similar language environments
  • Experience developing system performance requirements
  • Experience building and/or analyzing M&S for integrated missile defense systems including subsystems such as sensors, kill vehicles, missiles/interceptors, threats & countermeasures, target discrimination, or command and control
  • MDS Domain Experience, especially with radar systems
  • Ability to effectively work and communicate with multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Experience working independently and in a geographically distributed team environment
  • Experience working with other disciplines and communicating with all levels of the organization and stakeholders
