About the position

The Senior Systems/Network Engineer will support the government in developing and applying high-assurance computer security systems hardware and software. This role involves research, design, development, integration, testing, and installation of high-assurance systems, as well as ensuring compliance with security standards. The position is contingent and expected to start in late spring or early summer 2025, with work conducted on-site in the National Capital Region and potential telecommuting options.

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, develop, integrate, test, and install high-assurance systems hardware, software, and diagnostics equipment.
  • Integrate, test, and analyze operational network systems such as intrusion detection systems, firewalls, and network switches.
  • Provide host and network device security compliance using DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, systems engineering or related discipline with 10+ years of related experience, or high school diploma with 15+ years of directly relevant experience.
  • DoD Top Secret clearance.
  • Experience with development languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, Linux Scripting, PowerShell, Ruby, PHP, CSS, VBS, SQL, or Assembly.
  • Experience providing host and network device security compliance using DoD STIG.
  • Experience in research and development of high-assurance solutions.
  • Knowledgeable in IT infrastructure servers, their configuration, and protocols.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in a related discipline with eight (8) or more years of related experience, or PhD with five (5) or more years of related experience.
  • Experience in research, design and development, integration, and testing of hardware and firmware for high assurance applications.
  • Experience in the analysis of unknown binary program behavior using static and dynamic techniques.
  • Experience in understanding high-assurance computer systems and network environments.
  • Government program R&D experience.
  • Familiarity with DoD STIG compliance.
