About the position

The Senior Systems/Network Engineer at L3Harris will play a crucial role in designing, integrating, and operating secure military communications networks across multiple domains. This position requires a deep understanding of network architecture and the ability to deliver detailed network schematics, hardware selections, and software configurations that meet stringent performance requirements. The engineer will be responsible for maintaining an advanced technical understanding of TCP/IP networks and current networking technologies, including routers, switches, and firewalls. In this role, the engineer will configure Cisco Routers and Switches, work with VMware virtualization products, and develop and deploy RHEL and Windows OS Virtual Machines. They will also employ necessary tools and procedures to ensure compliance with cyber-security requirements for sensitive and classified communications systems. The position is designed for individuals who are passionate about technology and are committed to excellence in their work, contributing to the mission-critical needs of L3Harris's diverse customer base. The work schedule is structured as a 9/80, allowing employees to have every other Friday off, promoting a healthy work-life balance. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree with at least 4 years of related experience. In lieu of a degree, candidates with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience will also be considered. This position may require obtaining a security clearance, which is only granted to U.S. citizens.

Responsibilities

  • Design, integrate, and operate secure military communications networks over multiple domains.
  • Deliver detailed network schematics, hardware selections, and software configurations that meet performance requirements.
  • Maintain an advanced technical understanding of TCP/IP networks and current networking technologies.
  • Configure Cisco Routers and Switches, and work with VMware virtualization products.
  • Develop and deploy RHEL and Windows OS Virtual Machines.
  • Employ necessary tools and procedures to meet cyber-security requirements for sensitive/classified communications systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience, or Graduate Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience, or in lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
  • Experience with configuring Cisco Routers & Switches.
  • Experience with VMware virtualization products.
  • Development and deployment of RHEL and Windows OS Virtual Machines.

Nice-to-haves

  • US DoD Security Clearance: TS//SCI preferred.
  • Professional certification specific to the networking industry such as CCNA or equivalent.
  • DoD 8570 Security certification such as Sec+, CISSP, or equivalent.
  • Experience with network device configuration and troubleshooting (ideally, Cisco IOS/IOS-XE).
  • Experience with network design, architecture, specifications, and equipment selection.
  • Experience with IPv4 and IPv6 network design, including IP subnetting and protocols including BGP, OSPF and EIGRP.
  • Strong understanding of features like GRE, IPSEC, DMVPN, GetVPN, IP quality-of-service, VLANs, and multicast.
  • Strong understanding of network security features like IP access-lists, stateful protocol inspections, and Next-Gen firewalls.
  • Familiar with network management protocols, like SNMP, SSH, syslog, RADIUS/TACACS.
  • Ability to communicate well, including proficiency with MS Office tools, including PowerPoint and Visio.
  • Familiar with network management applications, like Splunk, Firepower Management Center (FMC), and/or Cisco ISE.
  • Exposure to the Risk Management Framework, associated security controls, and STIGs.
  • Familiar with Windows, Linux, VMWare, and container configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with HAIPE/TACLANE and other military COMSEC/CRYPTO equipment and procedures.
