About the position

The Senior T&D Coordinator is responsible for coordinating activities related to the construction and maintenance of transmission and distribution facilities, ensuring maximum productivity and adherence to safety standards. This role involves significant interaction with external contractors and requires effective communication and problem-solving skills to manage complex responsibilities and improve service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a safety culture by performing duties consistent with IIF.
  • Assist the Supervisor and/or Scheduler in coordinating, planning, and assigning work for external construction crews.
  • Act as the primary contact for contractors.
  • Authorize and communicate changes in project scope to contractors.
  • Manage, coordinate, and schedule materials for project completion and ensure excess material is returned.
  • Perform job site inspections to confirm readiness and optimize manpower and equipment utilization.
  • Monitor and assess contractor progress and ensure corrective actions are taken as necessary.
  • Ensure job site readiness, including staking and availability of engineering prints and materials.
  • Coordinate construction activities with other departments and outside entities.
  • Communicate completion of work to the Project Owner and Resource Coordination.
  • Assist with damage claims investigations and customer complaints resolution.
  • Maintain positive relationships with all departments for efficient service restoration.
  • Check and verify material lists and manage material delivery.
  • Perform contractor Work Observations and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Provide documented communication of project information to internal and external customers.
  • Review contractor invoices for completion of work per scope.
  • Coordinate with local districts for project needs and logistics.
  • Define site access points, parking, and storage requirements.
  • Prepare project change request documentation for approval.
  • Coordinate heavy hauling for material and equipment delivery.
  • Assist contractors with hot line holds and switching.
  • Verify foreman's paperwork and ensure proper routing.
  • Assist crews during service restoration efforts, including coordinating meals and lodging.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED and 2 years relevant journey-level electric utility experience within the past 5 years; Or
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (e.g., Industrial Electrical, Electronics Technology, Engineering Technology, Math, Physics or Engineering) and relevant journey-level electric utility experience within the past 5 years.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of distribution underground and overhead line facilities, including switching and lighting systems.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, Mobile Data Unit, CADS, ArcFM, and other company supported software.
  • Strong ability to work in partnership with other members.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose problems, and resolve effectively.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to understand and comply with company policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs and SSOPs).
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust and adapt across varied working conditions.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction standards and guides.
