About the position

The Senior Tax Accountant at PacifiCorp plays a crucial role in the financial operations of the company, focusing on the preparation and analysis of federal, state, and local income tax returns. This position is integral to ensuring compliance with tax regulations and involves a variety of responsibilities that contribute to the overall financial health of the organization. The successful candidate will be part of a compliance team, working collaboratively to prepare tax returns and manage tax forecasting. This role requires a deep understanding of tax laws and procedures, as well as the ability to conduct thorough tax research and analysis. In addition to preparing tax returns, the Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for calculating quarterly estimated tax payments and providing technical input and recommendations to management. The position also involves preparing tax calculations for the annual income tax return, as well as annual and quarterly income tax provisions. The accountant will play a key role in the annual budgeting process and contribute to the company's long-term financial planning by preparing a 10-year plan. The role may also include additional responsibilities as assigned, making it essential for the candidate to be adaptable and proactive in their approach to work. Responsibilities

  • Participate as a member of the compliance team to prepare federal, state, and local income tax returns.
  • Tax forecasting and preparation of quarterly federal, state, and local income tax estimated payments.
  • Prepare tax calculations for annual income tax return, annual and quarterly income tax provisions, annual budget and 10-year plan.
  • Provide technical input and recommendations for management.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • Six or more years of related work experience, four of which is in income tax accounting with a certified public accountant designation or a graduate business degree. If no CPA designation or graduate business degree, eight or more years of related work experience, four of which is in income tax accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of tax law and procedures, tax research skills, familiarity with various tax returns and schedules.
  • Strong computer software skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree and/or CPA designation.
