About the position

The Senior Tax Accountant at PacifiCorp plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of the company's tax obligations. This position is responsible for preparing federal, state, and local income tax returns, as well as managing quarterly estimated tax payments. The Senior Tax Accountant will also conduct in-depth income tax research and analysis to support the company's financial strategies. As a member of the compliance team, the accountant will actively participate in the preparation of tax returns and will be involved in tax forecasting and the preparation of quarterly estimated payments. In addition to these responsibilities, the Senior Tax Accountant will prepare tax calculations for the annual income tax return, annual and quarterly income tax provisions, and contribute to the annual budget and 10-year financial plan. The role requires providing technical input and recommendations to management, ensuring that the company adheres to all relevant tax laws and regulations. The Senior Tax Accountant will also be expected to take on additional responsibilities as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to the team's success.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare federal, state, and local income tax returns as part of the compliance team.
  • Conduct tax forecasting and prepare quarterly estimated tax payments.
  • Calculate taxes for annual income tax returns and quarterly income tax provisions.
  • Contribute to the annual budget and 10-year financial plan.
  • Provide technical input and recommendations for management regarding tax matters.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • Six or more years of related work experience, with at least four years in income tax accounting and a CPA designation or a graduate business degree.
  • If no CPA designation or graduate business degree, eight or more years of related work experience, with four years in income tax accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of tax law and procedures, including tax research skills.
  • Familiarity with various tax returns and schedules.
  • Strong computer software skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree and/or CPA designation.
