About the position

The Sterling Group is seeking a detail oriented and self-motivated Senior Tax Accountant to join our team! The Senior Tax Accountant will report to the Vice President of Tax and assist with domestic and international tax compliance and reporting for The Sterling Group, its affiliated management companies and private equity funds. Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing the firms international, federal, state and local tax compliance.
  • Working directly with external Big 4 tax advisor.
  • Preparing tax-related communications.
  • Preparing estimated tax projections.
  • Preparing tax provisions for blocker corporations.
  • Preparing Forms W-9/W-8 and obtaining EINs.
  • Preparing 1099 reporting for various entities.
  • Review Big 4 service providers work for year-end k-1s and tax returns.
  • Review tax allocations of partnership income.
  • Assist in state tax issues including state tax withholding for fund entities.
  • Assist with required federal and state tax payments and tracking.
  • Register for new accounts with various state and local governments as needed.
  • Assist with IRS and state agency audits, inquiries, and tax notices.
  • Coordinate collection of tax data from portfolio companies.
  • Assist with continuous improvement of processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Document investment specific technical and compliance issues and reporting positions.
  • Assist with international filings and preparation of applicable forms.
  • Assist compliance with FATCA and CRS policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure entity compliance with CT Corp for the Corporate Transparency Act, Registered Agent, Delaware Annual Reports and Annual Audits.
  • Prepare name change IRS letters, Forms 8832 and 8937.
  • Prepare Aircraft Disallowance calculations.
  • Assist with FBAR and Business Personal Property Rendition filings, Fixed Assets, Transaction Cost analysis, USRPHC analysis and documentation.
  • Draft responses to Limited Partners' and Co-investors tax inquiries and tax information needs.
  • Ad-hoc analyses and assignments.

Requirements

  • Accounting or Tax degree from an accredited university.
  • At least 2 years of tax experience with a Big 4 accounting firm.
  • CPA or CPA candidate.
  • Experience with Partnership accounting and tax compliance preferred. Corporate tax experience is a plus.
