About the position

The Senior Tax Accountant plays a crucial role in the tax department by supporting various functions including the preparation and review of tax returns, tax provisions, and indirect tax filings. This position requires a strong understanding of tax laws and regulations, as well as the ability to collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely tax information.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and reviews workpapers for corporate federal, state and local income tax returns.
• Assists with the preparation and review of interim and year-end tax provision workpapers.
• Reviews and facilitates the monthly sales and use tax returns filings with Avalara.
• Prepares and reviews federal and state estimated income tax payments and tax return extensions.
• Assists with responses to taxing authority inquiries.
• Develops inter-department relationships and interfaces with personnel to ensure that tax information acquired from other departments is accurate and timely.
• Performs monthly tax account reconciliations and journal entries.
• Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or related field.
• Minimum of 1-2 years' experience in preparing and reviewing corporate tax returns and researching tax issues.
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills and detail-oriented.
• Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills.
• Intermediate proficiency with Excel.

Nice-to-haves

• CPA candidate, 'Big Four' experience and/or a mix of public and private experience.
• Experience with SAP or large ERP system.
