About The Position

This position at Menzies Aviation involves expanding the in-house tax function in the US while collaborating closely with the Group Tax team in the UK. The role focuses on assisting the Director of Tax with daily operations, long-term planning, and strategy for the business tax function, while fostering strong relationships with various departments and external advisors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and a master's degree in taxation.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • 6-9 years of combined experience in public accounting and industry.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (pivot tables & VLOOKUP's).
  • Experience with CCH Access Tax preparation software and Thomson Reuters Checkpoint tax research software.
  • Experience with federal consolidated tax returns and state unitary combined returns.
  • Knowledge of Base Erosion and Anti-Abuse Tax (BEAT) compliance and planning.
  • Familiarity with Global Intangible Low-Taxed Income (GILTI) and Internal Revenue Code Section 163(j) interest expense limitation.
  • Experience with United States and Canada Transfer Pricing and federal/state fuel excise tax credits.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the day-to-day functions of the tax department for all US taxes including federal, state, and local taxes.
  • Manage and assess the Company's tax processes, implementing necessary improvements.
  • Assist the Director of Tax in long-term tax planning and strategy.
  • Supervise preparation of monthly/quarterly filings for state sales & use taxes and excise fuel taxes.
  • Assist with the preparation of federal, state, and local income/franchise returns.
  • Ensure compliance with state & local business licenses and property taxes.
  • Manage industry-specific filings and outside audits.
  • Assist with internal documentation for transfer pricing and foreign tax compliance.
  • Manage government audits related to sales/use tax, property tax, and income/franchise taxes.
  • Research tax laws and regulations.
