About the position
The Senior Tax Accountant position at Kemper CPA Group LLP is an advanced, non-management role focused on providing tax services to clients. This full-time position requires candidates to have significant experience in public accounting, particularly in tax, and involves direct client interaction, staff development, and compliance with tax regulations. The role is designed for individuals who can work independently while contributing to the firm's success and maintaining professional standards.
Responsibilities
- Complete moderately complex federal, state, local, and special tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, and estates independently and with minimal direction.
- Comply with federal, state, and local requirements and communicate with partners, staff, and clients to ensure timely and accurate tax reporting.
- Prepare and/or review financial statements, reports, and records by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Maintain professional standards and technical knowledge through workshops, seminars, publications, personal networks, and/or professional societies.
- Remain current on general economic and political trends of possible tax or other legislation impacting the business climate.
- Contribute to the overall success of the firm and staff by promoting efficient execution throughout the engagement while cultivating positive client relationships.
- Research issues and respond to client and staff questions in a simple, understandable fashion.
- Manage multiple client requests in an efficient and timely manner.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Possess a bachelor's degree in accounting.
- Minimum of three to five years of public accounting experience in tax.
- CPA designation is preferred.
- Possess technology skills which contribute to the completion of assignments.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to clients & staff in a respectful and professional manner.
- Demonstrate ownership of work assigned and take the initiative to complete the work assigned.
- Work under time constraints.
- Display analytical skills with an orientation to focus on details and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

- Experience with tax software and technology tools that enhance productivity.
- Previous experience in mentoring or training interns and newer staff.
