About the position

The Temporary Senior Tax Accountant will play a crucial role in managing tax functions for an employee-owned ESOP company. This position focuses on income tax planning and compliance, ensuring adherence to federal and state regulations while working in a hybrid environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review federal, state, and local income tax returns specific to ESOP compliance
  • Ensure accurate tax planning and compliance in line with all applicable regulations
  • Research tax legislation and stay current on regulatory changes impacting ESOP and related income taxes
  • Collaborate with accounting and finance teams to enhance tax reporting and compliance efficiency
  • Support tax audits, addressing inquiries from federal and state tax authorities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's or CPA preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in tax compliance, with ESOP knowledge strongly preferred
  • Strong expertise in federal and state income tax laws
  • Detail-oriented with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work environment
  • Proficiency with tax preparation software such as ProConnect and CCH
  • Familiarity with accounting software like Lawson or Sage Intacct
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite
