About the position

The Senior Tax Accountant will ensure timely and accurate filing of taxes with local and state tax organizations. This role involves training and approving tax returns for Decentralized DOF, assisting the Tax Director with tax issues and notices, and conducting extensive tax research while communicating with hotel owners and personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare/Complete monthly tax returns
  • Ensure timely filing of all sales, use and occupancy returns
  • Reconcile balance sheet account to ensure all tax returns are posted correctly
  • Support/Assist Controllers & General Managers regarding tax overages/shortages
  • Communicate with various tax authorities
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly SOX audit requests
  • Assist with compiling necessary support for tax audits
  • Perform additional projects and duties as needed
  • Manage and review tax returns for Decentralized hotels
  • Review Profitsword tax mapping and PMS to ensure tax implications are accurate
  • Finalize tax filings, register and/or close tax accounts properly, and handle various other administrative replies
  • Respond to owner inquiries and prepare as-needed tax schedule requests from Tax Authorities and internal/external auditors
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business or equivalent work experience preferred
  • 3 to 5 years of Sales & Use Tax (SUT) experience required
  • Ability to perform tax research and reach appropriate conclusions
  • Experience working with multiple projects simultaneously is required
  • Ability to manage and track multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Requires an understanding of generally accepted accounting principles reports and terminology
  • Extended hours may be required at times
  • Experience in the hospitality field preferred
