About the position

The Family Office Senior Tax Accountant is a pivotal role within our organization, primarily responsible for managing and executing various tax-related tasks. This position requires a deep understanding of tax regulations and the ability to apply foundational tax knowledge to identify potential tax issues. The Senior Tax Accountant will gather necessary client information for filing, participate in tax planning, and recognize and communicate potential risks associated with tax matters. The role also involves preparing tax accrual work papers and utilizing tax software applications to complete tax returns efficiently. Given the collaborative nature of this position, the individual will need to work concurrently with several different teams, ensuring that all tax-related activities are aligned with the company's objectives and compliance requirements. In addition to the technical aspects of tax preparation, the Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for the preparation of Federal and State income tax returns, as well as state and local franchise tax returns. This includes multi-state tax return preparation, tax projections, and related estimates. The role also encompasses the preparation of apportionment schedules, local tax returns, and miscellaneous returns, along with conducting necessary research. Maintaining an automated tax calendar is crucial for ensuring timely compliance with tax deadlines. The Senior Tax Accountant will assist in the preparation of Federal S Corporation and Partnership returns, as well as annual reports and registrations. Responding to IRS and State Tax Notices and assisting in federal and state tax audits are also key responsibilities of this position. Furthermore, the Senior Tax Accountant will be involved in tax planning initiatives, contributing to the overall tax strategy of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of Federal and State income & state and local franchise tax returns.
  • Tax return preparation including multi-state preparation.
  • Prepare tax projections and related tax estimates.
  • Prepare apportionment schedules, local tax returns, miscellaneous returns and research as needed.
  • Maintain automated tax calendar.
  • Assist in preparation of Federal S Corporation and Partnership returns.
  • Prepare Annual reports and registrations.
  • Respond to IRS and State Tax Notices.
  • Assist in federal and state tax audits.
  • Be involved in tax planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required in Accounting, MS in Taxation, or CPA.
  • 4+ years' experience in tax preparation in a public or a corporate tax department.
  • Excellent organizational skills in a hands-on tax department.
  • Extensive spreadsheet (Excel) and word processing skills.
  • Knowledge of tax software programs (CCH Axcess and NetSuite G/L).
  • Research capabilities using internet and printed library, currently using CCH and BNA software.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Willingness to assist in non-tax areas.
