About the position

As a Senior Tax Manager at our esteemed firm, you will play a pivotal role in providing tax, assurance, and consulting services to a diverse range of clients. Your expertise will be essential in managing client engagements, ensuring a thorough understanding of their business, and delivering exceptional service. You will be responsible for leading multiple auditing and accounting projects, actively communicating with clients about engagement progress, and addressing any issues that arise. Your role will also involve continuous improvement of your specialty area knowledge, educating your team on new audit practices, and managing billable hour budgets to ensure efficiency and accuracy in our deliverables. In this position, you will have the opportunity to build and sustain excellent client relationships, generating new business through community involvement and networking. You will also be responsible for developing challenging developmental plans for your team members, providing effective performance feedback, and contributing to their professional growth. Your leadership will be crucial in coaching the audit team, celebrating individual and team accomplishments, and participating in the recruitment of new staff. Responsibilities

  • Possess thorough knowledge of all facets of client's business to ensure client understanding of engagement economics and to provide frequent updates
  • Actively communicate the progress of engagements, problems, and resolutions to clients
  • Continuously improve specialty area knowledge and educate team on new audit practices and processes
  • Manage billable hour budgets and follow up when the team is over/under to determine the cause
  • Lead multiple auditing and accounting projects and client engagements simultaneously
  • Delegate and manage audit and accounting assignments to achieve accurate and efficient product
  • Research and identify complex audit issues and recommend creative solutions with the input of key stakeholders
  • Build challenging developmental plans for all team members and evaluate results
  • Assume responsibility for and provide direction and coaching to the audit team
  • Generate new business for the firm through community involvement, networking, and professional events/committees
  • Develop and sustain excellent client relationships, owning the relationship end-to-end
  • Celebrate individual and team accomplishments and be part of recruiting new and experienced staff
  • Provide effective performance feedback and on-the-job training
  • Contribute to performance management to help assess readiness for promotion of staff and senior levels

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or law; Master's degree in Tax/LLM in Tax preferred
  • 7+ years of recent accounting firm experience
  • Significant experience in all types of entity and individual taxes, especially Partnerships and S-Corporations
  • CPA certification
  • Strong experience with corporate tax accounting
  • Experience with tax software and technology
