About the position

The Senior Technical Accountant at Morris Group, Inc. is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with accounting principles and regulations. This role involves managing accounts payable and receivable, general ledger entries, payroll, and financial statement preparation, while also performing detailed financial analyses and supporting audits. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, general ledger entries, payroll, and financial statement preparation.
  • Perform detailed financial analyses and assist in budget preparation.
  • Support audits and ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts and streamline month-end close processes.
  • Prepare and maintain proper support and audit trail for all journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Assist in the production of monthly flux analysis and financial reports.
  • Partner with other departments to ensure quality and accuracy of financial data reported in the general ledger.
  • Assist in annual audits and review internal controls for adequacy.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports for various functions and groups.
  • Prepare Sales Tax Returns and assist in Sales Tax Audits.
  • Oversee accounting and reporting for all company assets, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Accounting or Finance required.
  • CPA or Master's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience within a manufacturing industry.
  • 2+ years of Senior level experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with internal and external partners.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Sophisticated Microsoft Excel skills and ability to develop automated processes.
  • Understanding and application of cost accounting principles.
