About the position

Workday is seeking a highly motivated Senior Technical Accounting Manager to join a collaborative team focused on operational efficiency through system optimization and process automation. This role is crucial for managing complex accounting processes, particularly in relation to venture investments and mergers & acquisitions, while ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP. The position emphasizes teamwork, communication, and the development of accounting professionals within a supportive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and document technical accounting research related to new business initiatives and/or complex transactions
• Proactively collaborate cross-functionally to ensure that accounting and budget impacts of significant and unusual transactions are communicated timely and accounted for properly
• Perform and document quarterly/annual controls
• Lead the evaluation and adoption of new accounting pronouncements, including collaborating with the broader finance organization to ensure effective implementation
• Proactively work with external auditors to drive timely closure of technical accounting matters
• Establish, maintain and educate others on accounting policies and procedures
• Promote teamwork between finance groups and departments
• Support SOX compliance efforts and assist in improvement of control procedures
• Collaborate with internal teams and external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance
• Support month-end close processes
• Perform various ad hoc projects as requested

Requirements

• Minimum 8 years+ of accounting experience (must include minimum of 6 years within public accounting)
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA required

Nice-to-haves

• Software and/or SaaS industry experience preferred
• Experience using large ERP system preferred
• Proficiency with MS Excel
