About the position

The Senior Technical Architect at AECOM will play a pivotal role in the Buildings + Places team, focusing on complex building design issues and providing leadership throughout all project stages. This position requires a seasoned architect with a strong background in architectural practice, building design, and engineering, who is passionate about detail and constructability. The role involves mentoring a team of architects and engineers, enhancing technical knowledge, and contributing to the growth of the team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise on multiple projects as assigned.
  • Assist in training and evaluation of assigned personnel, standards, and processes.
  • Develop architectural methods and techniques.
  • Collaborate with building engineers, specialists, and other disciplines.
  • Work under the supervision of Department Lead and senior management.
  • Partner with Project Manager for client and project success.
  • Serve as a resource for design development and building technologies.
  • Support and lead others in achieving technical objectives.
  • Develop relationships with vendors, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Work directly with contractors and construction managers.
  • Advise and support RFP pursuits and areas of specialization.
  • Respond to contractor RFI's and Shop Drawings.
  • Advise on Value Engineering, Risk, and Cost related to design.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree with 8 years of relevant experience or equivalent education/experience.
  • Recent experience as a Senior level Project Architect/Technical Architect.
  • Licensed Architect in the United States required.
  • Experience with software platforms including Office, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and Adobe.
  • Demonstrated experience with constructability and building systems.
  • Experience managing design to budget and leading value engineering efforts.
  • Previous experience leading and mentoring architectural/technical teams.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements including building codes and Life Safety.

Nice-to-haves

  • 10+ years of experience as a licensed Architect.
  • Experience using Revit.
  • Experience leading Client and team progress meetings.
  • Expertise in conducting quality control project reviews.
  • Expertise in building envelope systems and detailing.
  • Experience with traditional DBB and D+B delivery methods.
