About the position

The Senior Technical Assistant - Audio Engineer position operates under the supervision of the LPAC Stage Manager and is responsible for a variety of audio-related tasks. This includes mixing and programming audio for in-house, touring, and rental artists, as well as providing audio support and setups for outdoor events. The role also involves maintaining audio equipment to ensure optimal performance. Given the highly visible nature of this position, the individual will have extensive contact with both amateur and professional performing arts organizations, as well as the general public. The position also includes supervisory responsibilities over Stage Assistants, although no direct reports are specified. The duties of the Senior Technical Assistant encompass a wide range of audio engineering tasks. Familiarity with live audio mixing and stage audio setup requirements is essential, particularly with equipment such as the Yamaha CL-5 console and Soundcraft Qu series mixing. The role requires skills in counterweight rigging and fly rail operation, as well as personnel lift operation. The individual will be responsible for setting audio stage plots, managing audio snake cabling, and distributing power feeds. The ability to set and complete goals with minimal supervision is crucial, as is the capacity to work accurately under pressure while managing multiple tasks. Experience in a roadhouse environment and knowledge of audio maintenance procedures are also important for success in this role. In addition to technical skills, the position requires strong customer service and supervisory skills, excellent verbal communication abilities, and proficiency in word processing. The candidate must be able to organize effectively, understand and follow written and oral instructions, and interact tactfully with staff, participants, and the public. The ideal candidate will have a combination of education and experience totaling three or more years, with a preference for those currently enrolled in a college, university, or trade school majoring in Theatre Arts, Film, Television, or a related field.
