About the position

The Senior Technical Construction Project Manager at Tesla, Inc. is responsible for leading site infrastructure planning efforts for various construction projects. This role involves managing internal and external resources, tracking project progress, and ensuring alignment with production milestones. The position requires collaboration with multiple stakeholders to develop comprehensive schedules and manage risks throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Lead site infrastructure planning efforts for construction projects.
  • Work with product, program, design, and construction managers to define and plan work.
  • Manage internal and external planning resources and track project progress.
  • Monitor facility progress and turnover dates against production milestones.
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive Basis of Schedule (BOS) document.
  • Lead the schedule development lifecycle from conceptual planning to execution scheduling.
  • Conduct periodic planning meetings to align plans with execution strategies.
  • Utilize Oracle Primavera P6 for project scheduling.
  • Prepare resource load schedules and confirm contractor durations and ramp plans.
  • Identify potential scope growth and ensure appropriate use of allowances and contingencies.
  • Perform quality reviews of work prepared by others to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Support the development of scheduling systems and processes.
  • Track and summarize schedule performance with project controls and finance teams.
  • Lead ad-hoc schedule studies for rapid decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (foreign education equivalent accepted) and five years of experience in construction management, engineering, or related occupation in construction planning and scheduling.
  • Alternatively, a Master's in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (foreign education equivalent accepted) and three years of experience.
  • Experience in construction means and methods across various disciplines (civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing).
  • Proficiency in software systems including Aconex, Oracle Unifer, Bluebeam, and CAD.
  • Experience with Oracle Primavera P6.
  • Knowledge of earned value concepts and using construction resources for productivity validation.
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings and smart plant 3D software for construction sequence planning.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with BIM/4D Scheduling.
