About the position

The Senior Technical Portfolio Manager at AIG is responsible for leading multi-year strategic programs within the PMO Execution framework. This role involves collaborating with IT and business unit teams to ensure the delivery of business and functional requirements while adhering to established processes, policies, and standards. The position requires strong leadership and project management skills to oversee complex projects from inception to post-implementation, ensuring alignment with business objectives and effective communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Understand key business objectives and product strategy, supporting other portfolio managers in meeting these objectives.
  • Provide oversight to meet established function, quality, cost, and schedule goals for large-sized programs/projects.
  • Manage programs/projects from initial concept through post-implementation, including multiple implementation cycles.
  • Plan and control multiple related projects with complex dependencies and shared resources.
  • Build relationships with sponsoring executives and among different groups within and outside the department.
  • Clarify boundaries of acceptable risk and remove obstacles.
  • Author program management artifacts and develop and maintain project plans and financials.
  • Work with resource managers and vendor partners to obtain necessary resources.
  • Ensure project governance is established and observed.
  • Recognize, clarify, and prioritize project plan activities.
  • Author effective communication for program stakeholders.
  • Communicate complex ideas clearly and present appropriate messages.
  • Promote collaborative relationships across program team members.
  • Inspire commitment, high energy, and positive attitudes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field (e.g., Computer Science) with 10+ years of proven experience.
  • Strong leadership skills to direct staff and resolve issues to meet product goals.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously, including tollgates and deadlines.
  • Coordinate all project-related activities and interactions with other projects.
  • Proactively manage, mitigate, and communicate project issues, risks, and dependencies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Financial management for the portfolio, programs, annual budget, and contracts.
  • Strong presentation, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • In-depth expertise in product discipline, including agile, product management, and DevOps practices.
  • Ability to work effectively with all individuals and groups involved in the portfolio of products.
  • Proven customer service/relations skills, including situational leadership and dispute resolution.
  • Skilled in group and individual dynamics to facilitate and interface with all levels of personnel.
  • Ability to mentor and coach less experienced staff.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced skills in utilizing Microsoft Office products.
  • Solid working knowledge of SharePoint, Confluence, and Rally.
