About the position

The Senior Technical Product Manager at Great American Insurance Group will play a pivotal role in the IT organization, partnering with various stakeholders to drive the delivery of solutions that align with business objectives. This position emphasizes a customer-centric and data-driven approach, focusing on product vision, strategy, and user adoption to enhance client and customer experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Leads a cross-functional team to define a product vision and strategy, product roadmap, and requirements for successful delivery.
  • Collaborates with key business and IT stakeholders to define business objectives, facilitate sprint activities, and create and communicate requirements that translate business needs into strategic business and technology initiatives.
  • Ensures a customer-centric and data-driven approach to identify and advocate for iterative deliverables with measurable outcomes.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders on user adoption strategies and progress on product adoption.
  • Creates and maintains training materials as needed to assist in product adoption.
  • Monitors usage, assesses user data, and identifies opportunities to increase usage and improve user experience.
  • Creates and maintains an actionable and prioritized backlog.
  • Serves as the liaison between the business product owner, delivery team, and other key stakeholders.
  • Participates in or facilitates all agile ceremonies (e.g., standups, planning, retro, etc.).
  • Displays technical aptitude towards APIs, services, and other integrations.
  • Ability to understand API request and response structures.
  • Ability to test and triage APIs at multiple levels within an orchestrated ecosystem.
  • Ability to translate technical details and needs back to business stakeholders.
  • Partners with development team members to create and refine API documentation.
  • Instills Product Mindset with a balanced team approach: Ability to breakdown complex problems into simple solutions focused on outcomes and important customer needs.
  • Focus on data-driven approaches to solving problems and validating solutions.
  • Develops and maintains relationships across the business.
  • May be tasked with coaching, mentoring, or pairing with other Product Managers.
  • May have responsibility for performance and coaching of staff and may have a participatory role in decisions regarding talent selection, development, and performance management for direct reports.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Technical Product Manager or similar role in IT.
  • Strong understanding of APIs, services, and integrations.
  • Experience with agile methodologies and ceremonies.
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and vice versa.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the insurance industry or financial services.
  • Familiarity with data-driven decision-making processes.
  • Previous experience in coaching or mentoring other Product Managers.
