About the position

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a highly skilled Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join our team, focusing on the delivery of AWS services in government and air-gapped regions. This role is critical as we expand our infrastructure to meet the increasing demand for AWS services within the US government and other restricted access areas. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in program management, IT infrastructure, and programming, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences throughout their AWS journey. In this position, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of service campaigns and features tailored for government and air-gapped regions. Your role will involve coordinating the development of technical solutions aimed at enhancing internal processes and driving growth and efficacy. As a TPM, you will lead various projects and programs that span new offerings, ensuring that our services are scalable and meet the unique requirements of customers in restricted access regions. You will collaborate closely with AWS leadership and service teams to sequence, report on, and deliver services and features effectively. Your responsibilities will include working with AWS service teams to deliver solutions that optimize resource use and technology, identifying and addressing dependencies within these regions. You will assess risks, anticipate issues, and navigate technical challenges while balancing business needs with technical constraints. Successful candidates will have a deep understanding of AWS services and architecture, along with a proven track record in program management supporting technical initiatives. You will represent program status to AWS senior leadership, influencing decisions and driving secure, scalable solutions. Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of service campaigns and features within government and air-gapped regions.
  • Coordinate the development of technical solutions to enhance internal processes and drive growth.
  • Lead projects and programs spanning new offerings to ensure services scale to meet diverse customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with AWS leadership and service teams to sequence, report upon, and deliver services and features.
  • Identify dependencies and assess risks while overcoming technical obstacles and making trade-off decisions.
  • Represent program status to AWS senior leadership and influence decisions based on program management expertise.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience.
  • 7+ years of experience working directly with engineering teams.
  • 3+ years of software development experience.
  • 5+ years of technical program management experience working directly with software engineering teams.
  • Experience managing programs across cross-functional teams, building processes, and coordinating release schedules.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years of project management experience including scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and critical path management.
  • Experience managing projects across cross-functional teams and building sustainable processes.
  • Experience defining KPIs/SLAs to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership.
