About the position

Technical Program Managers (TPMs) at Datadog are entrusted with leading our most crucial and complex projects that span across various technical teams, domains, and products. In this position, you will collaborate with enterprise technology teams to support office build-outs, manage post-acquisition processes, and oversee third-party SaaS tools. Your responsibilities will include managing large-scale, cross-organization programs, integrations, and migration efforts. You will work closely with teams to clarify goals and deliverables, utilizing data to inform planning and prioritization. Additionally, you will break down projects into manageable components, identify and track dependencies, and proactively address potential problems before they escalate into blockers. You will also be responsible for creating and refining processes as necessary, maintaining a focus on reliability, continual improvements, and automation. Identifying key performance indicators (KPIs) and success metrics, collecting and analyzing data, and ensuring visibility of information will be crucial aspects of your role. Effective communication of goals, status updates, risks, and impacts to teams and stakeholders will be essential, and you will need to adapt your communication style to suit various audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Manage large-scale, cross-organization programs, integrations, and migration efforts.
  • Work with teams to clarify goals and deliverables; bring data to planning and prioritization.
  • Break down projects into component parts, identifying and tracking dependencies and opportunities for optimization.
  • Proactively identify problems and recommend solutions before they become blockers.
  • Create and refine processes when necessary; maintain focus on reliability and continual improvements, and automation and scaling.
  • Identify KPIs and success metrics, collect and analyze data; make information visible.
  • Communicate goals, status, risks, and impact to teams and stakeholders; adapt communications to any level.

Requirements

  • Solid technical background with educational experience in computer science, engineering, mathematics, information systems, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 5+ years of experience in technical program management in a dynamic and highly technical environment.
  • Strong track record in managing complex cross-functional projects in a cloud/SaaS environment.
  • Domain expertise in office build outs or third-party tooling.
  • Experience working collaboratively across organizations; strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience building and fostering effective working relationships.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Enjoy working in an innovative environment.
  • Data-driven approach to program management; building tools, collecting and analyzing data, and driving stakeholder buy-in.
  • Experience influencing without direct authority at senior levels internal and external to the engineering organization.
