About the position

As part of the Technical Strategy & Oversight (TSO) Team, a Technical Program Manager (TPM) plays a critical role in aligning priorities from various service teams, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders, and driving end-to-end execution of complex projects. This TPM will design, coordinate, and execute technical solutions that have a huge impact on our customer experience and scalability. Understanding various cloud technologies and technical trade-offs, the ideal candidate will be an exceptionally strong communicator, both written and verbally, have a well-rounded technical background, and come with a history of leading large-scale projects end-to-end. We are specifically looking for a Technical Program Manager to join our team. You will be responsible for managing large scale and complex technology projects focused on improving the Collaboration Services used across the entire Oracle employee population. The role of the TPM differs materially from that of a project manager and a program manager. A TPM is able to drive issues beyond what a traditional program manager can do due to deeper technical skills and expertise. Similarly, a TPM can drive projects in more depth vs. a traditional program manager. A TPM possesses skills of that of a program manager, project manager with technical expertise that is relevant to the service. In part, a TPM allows a service lead to scale and extend their reach.

Responsibilities

  • Drive execution and manage the development and implementation process of specific product/services involving departmental or cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of new or existing products.
  • Document customer requirements/gaps/pain points & prioritize.
  • Articulate the current status, progress made and next steps through engagements and weekly status reports.
  • Convert customer requirements into engineering requirements and articulate them to engineers.
  • Work hand in hand with designated Service Deliver Managers.
  • Plan and direct schedules and monitor budget/spending.
  • End to end ownership of overall project/program.
  • Monitor the project from initiation through delivery.
  • Assign and monitor work of systems analysis and program staff, providing technical support and direction.
  • Validate and review final products per requirements including reports, test metrics and processes before delivering to customers.
  • Organize the interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget constraints.
  • Mitigate risks/showstoppers, manage escalation.
  • Build required reports and dashboard on JIRA and/or Confluence.
  • Represent the product/team up to the VP level independently and at a higher level with appropriate coaching.
  • Be the most knowledgeable person in the team about the execution, the trade-offs and the whys behind them.
  • Ability to explain your team's analyses and recommendations to leadership while discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers and product managers.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and resilience in response to changing or ambiguous situations, directing changes through appropriate review and approval mechanisms.

Requirements

  • BS or MS degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science (or related field)
  • 5 or more years of project management, product design or related experience
  • Previous experience or understanding of cloud technologies, engineering, software, and systems development lifecycles, a strong background in Technical Program Management
  • Data-driven approach to solving problems and ability to deep dive to understand the nature of a problem
  • Experience developing or managing engineering or product portfolio planning and tracking processes and cadences
  • Ability to clearly articulate the value-add of TPM to engineering and product organizations
  • A natural problem-solver and strategic thinker who takes ownership
  • Efficiently and effectively communicating findings/progress to cross-functional teams, senior leadership, and the broader organizations

  • Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits.
