About the position

The Senior Technical Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of assigned technical projects, which may include developing new or upgraded products and services, enhancing internal information systems, applications, technology integration, and infrastructure, as well as delivering outsourced solutions to external clients. The role aims to improve customer satisfaction through technology, including customizations, system integration, and consulting projects. This position requires extensive interaction with various teams, including product development, sales, client relationship teams, technology solutions, and service delivery, ensuring that all project targets and requirements are met. The Senior Technical Project Manager will plan and coordinate all aspects of technical projects from initiation through delivery. This includes managing project initiation activities, ensuring that internal technology project requirements align with operational standards, and developing project plans, scope, activities, schedules, budgets, and deliverables. The role also involves identifying needed resources for projects, defining and assigning major project roles, and coordinating activities among project team members, internal departments, and external organizations to meet project goals. Additionally, the Senior Technical Project Manager will be responsible for managing project risks, issues, and progress, assisting with problem resolution or risk mitigation as needed. They will serve as a liaison between technical and non-technical teams, deliver presentations to technical and business groups, and conduct project closure activities, formalizing project acceptance and completing post-implementation reviews to identify areas for improvement. Some travel may be required for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate all aspects of technical projects from initiation through delivery.
  • Manage project initiation activities, including identifying contractual obligations, client needs, goals, and necessary contacts.
  • Ensure internal technology project requirements align with operational standards, developing alternate requirements or documenting exceptions as needed.
  • Develop, define, and execute project plans, scope, activities, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Identify needed resources for projects, defining and assigning major project roles.
  • Coordinate activities and tasks among project team members, internal departments, and external organizations to meet project goals and ensure timely, budget-compliant, and quality project completion.
  • Assign and monitor work of project team, providing technical and analytical support and direction.
  • Interface with external clients or field-based employees on technical matters as needed.
  • Manage project risks, issues, and progress to ensure project goals are achieved, assisting with problem resolution or risk mitigation as needed.
  • Manage the integration of vendor/subcontractor tasks and review their deliverables if appropriate.
  • Serve as liaison between technical and non-technical teams to ensure all project targets and requirements are met.
  • Deliver informational and decision-seeking presentations to technical and business groups.
  • Conduct project closure activities, formalizing and communicating project acceptance, handover documentation, and ongoing activities to accountable teams, and completing a post-implementation review to identify areas for improvement.
  • Oversee employees assigned to manage specific projects, selecting, developing, and evaluating personnel to ensure efficient operation.
  • Identify project management coordination process gaps or areas for improvement, recommending and implementing solutions.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10 years of experience in infrastructure project management.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale technology projects in a global environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of project management standards, processes, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Strong technical background required to manage technical projects and handle competing interests.
  • Active pursuit of Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent level of education and experience.
