About the position

As a Senior Technical Project Manager at MongoDB, you will lead a small Agile team in migrating a customer's legacy Java application to a modern cloud-based architecture utilizing MongoDB. This role involves collaborating with the Technical Lead, managing customer relationships, and fostering a culture of innovation within the team. You will be responsible for streamlining communications, managing project risks, and ensuring successful project delivery while leveraging the latest genAI tools to enhance the migration process.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a small Agile team in migrating legacy Java applications to a cloud-based architecture.
  • Liaise with customers and internal stakeholders to manage concerns and resolutions.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and collaboration within the team.
  • Identify and remove project impediments proactively.
  • Manage project risks and issues effectively.
  • Define and refine the project team's 'Way of Working'.
  • Streamline communications between the project team and stakeholders.
  • Manage expectations of project stakeholders, primarily organizational leaders.
  • Create plans and priorities for project delivery and customer resources.
  • Establish and lead recurring project status meetings with stakeholders.
  • Report project status concisely to both internal teams and customers.
  • Manage escalations or critical situations as they arise.
  • Assist with scoping of solutions and project scope definition.
  • Adopt a consultative approach that inspires trust and confidence.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of project management experience with enterprise-scale software solutions or consulting services delivery.
  • Excellent customer interaction and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated belief in stakeholder management and communications.
  • Services delivery experience with development or operation teams is a plus.
  • Ability to travel and work on customer sites for extended periods.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience as a SCRUM master.
  • Experience managing projects with a high degree of uncertainty.
  • Experience delivering software development projects, particularly modernization of legacy applications.
  • Familiarity with JIRA or other project management tools.
