About the position

The Senior Technical Project Manager, Security at BD Diagnostics is responsible for organizing and executing a variety of security initiatives within the Dispensing R&D organization. This role involves managing multiple projects, overseeing timelines, scope, dependencies, and risk mitigation, while integrating into an agile planning framework. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management for technology-based initiatives and experience in secure engineering operations, particularly in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, lead, and drive the execution of large, complex, multi-organizational initiatives.
  • Create organization and structure from ambiguity.
  • Manage and track security-related deliverables to completion.
  • Identify project risks early and pursue mitigations aggressively.
  • Guide and track the integration of security standard methodologies into product planning and development processes.
  • Create and run dashboards in JIRA, TFS, and other tools to track progress and create clarity for stakeholders.
  • Provide regular status updates to the executive leadership team.
  • Evangelize standard methodologies for security operations and cultivate a community of practice that promotes secure engineering.
  • Guide software development teams and stakeholders on using agile and lean principles.
  • Lead retrospectives to solicit feedback and promote continuous improvement.
  • Remove impediments to project progress.
  • Facilitate meetings and distribute minutes to all project team members.
  • Coordinate the release of new software versions to production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of proven experience in an Agile software development organization.
  • 1-3 years of leadership experience in secure engineering operations.
  • Experience with implementation of STIGs and POA&Ms required.
  • Experience with software development in a regulated field preferred.

  • Experience creating Plan of Action and Milestones (POAMs) and tracking engineering responsibilities to timely completion.
  • Ability to coach teams on agile practices and ensure adherence to agile methodology.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively deliver complex messages and teach new concepts.
  • Ability to quickly analyze and resolve conflicts - strong mediator.
