About the position

The Senior Technical Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the initiation, planning, execution, and closing of projects within the telecommunications sector. This role involves managing teams, vendor relations, and ensuring compliance with corporate standards while maintaining project accounting for cost recovery. The position requires collaboration with various business areas and managing third-party projects, ensuring effective communication and change management throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate, plan, execute, and close projects, defining the project WBS, cost baseline, and OBS structure.
  • Manage teams to facilitate commitment and productivity, removing obstacles as needed.
  • Oversee management of third-party projects including other transmission owners and interconnecting customers.
  • Accountable for cost/budgeting and management, communication management, change management, schedule management, construction management oversight, commissioning management oversight, and risk management.
  • Manage fiduciary responsibilities including budget management, establishing accounting structures, and variance reporting.
  • Coordinate efforts of cross-functional project teams and hold regular program/project status meetings.
  • Collaborate with various Avangrid business areas such as Control, Electric and Gas Operations, IT, and Customer Service.
  • Evaluate regulatory filings and respond to interrogatories.
  • Maintain compliance requirements (both internal and external).
  • Provide expertise and immediacy of decision making, holding project team members accountable for results.

Requirements

  • 10 years or more of experience in Project Management, with at least 3 years in large projects.
  • Bachelor's degree required; Professional Engineer License preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Professional Project Management (PMP) Certification or equivalent under AVANGRID approval.
  • Experience in telecommunications projects or electric and gas construction.
  • Familiarity with project support tools such as JIRA.
  • Experience in establishing project accounting according to guidelines for cost recovery.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in regulatory environments.
  • Familiarity with IT and OSG on the development of technical requirements documentation.
