As a part of our mission to expand access to education via online, competency-based degree programs, you will play a crucial role in shaping the educational landscape. This position involves working closely with a cross-functional team of stakeholders, including end-users, engineers, enterprise architects, and product leaders, to understand the problems we aim to solve. You will help drive the product vision and define requirements, ensuring that we create shared outcomes that deliver significant impact for our customers. In this role, you will be recognized as an expert in your product area, demonstrating mastery of the current platform while identifying gaps that inform our near-term product roadmap and help establish long-term strategies. You will manage expectations by proactively communicating with stakeholders about potential risks to initiatives. Your responsibilities will also include leading quarterly planning activities, ensuring product quality through rigorous testing of software features, and coordinating user acceptance testing with stakeholders and end-users. Additionally, you will mentor and guide newer Product Managers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment. Your technical expertise in Service Oriented Architecture and cloud computing will be essential as you develop technology modernization roadmaps that enable constant iterative improvements. You will create design artifacts that provide visual and narrative detail of architectural requirements, ensuring alignment between architecture, engineering, infrastructure, and feature-driven product teams. This position requires a strategic mindset, as you will be responsible for managing significant technical projects and influencing policies and practices within and outside the university.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand problems and drive product vision.
  • Define product release strategies and ensure readiness of business partners.
  • Manage expectations and communicate proactively with stakeholders regarding risks.
  • Lead and present in quarterly planning activities.
  • Ensure product quality by testing software features and coordinating user acceptance testing.
  • Mentor and guide newer Product Managers.
  • Develop technology modernization roadmaps for iterative improvements.
  • Create design artifacts detailing architectural requirements and decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field or equivalent.
  • 7 years of deep technical software experience in engineering, design, architecture, and enterprise integration.
  • Experience working in Agile environments.
  • Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address technical challenges.
  • Deep understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns, and best practices.
  • Knowledge of various programming languages, databases, cloud technologies, and software development methodologies.
