This part-time role, requiring up to 20 hours per week, plays a crucial role in enhancing the capabilities of our naval warfighter. The successful candidate will engage in a variety of tasks that incorporate the systems engineering process, multidisciplinary teamwork, and product development to meet combat system user requirements. This position is integral to the US Navy's surface weapon combat system In-Service Engineering Agent mission, which involves conducting design reviews, system integration, test and evaluation, performance analysis, software support, and installation planning and execution for the development and acquisition of new systems, as well as the ongoing spiral development of existing weapon systems and support for legacy systems. In this role, the Technical Writer will be responsible for creating and maintaining alignment documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures, Combat System Alignment Manuals, and Technical Alignment Procedures. Additionally, the Technical Writer will assist the configuration control manager and Integrated Product Team (IPT) in managing combat systems alignment documentation. The role also includes supporting the implementation of government and DoD-adopted industry configuration management policies, which encompass requirements management, document management, change management, production and delivery, and configuration management of the performance, functional, and physical baselines throughout the weapon system life cycle. The Technical Writer will participate in program design reviews, technical meetings, and working groups to provide configuration management perspectives and help resolve any configuration management issues. Collaboration with government and industry teams to address program configuration management challenges is also a key aspect of this position.
