About The Position

The company is looking for a Senior Technical Writer to join its documentation team, responsible for creating technical documentation that aids users in designing, building, and testing API projects. The role involves owning documentation for specific features, planning documentation in line with product release cycles, conducting editorial reviews, delivering high-quality documentation, liaising with stakeholders, and mentoring other writers.

Requirements

• Minimum Bachelor's degree plus 7+ years of technical writing or related field experience.
• Problem solver with a broad view of the role of documentation within the organization.
• User empathy from experience in tech support or customer-facing roles.
• Strong communication skills with experience in writing technical material.
• Self-directed learner with curiosity about tech skills and development workflows.
• Experience using and documenting SaaS products.
• Comfortable working within a diverse global team in multiple time zones.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with the Docs as Code/Docs like Code approach to documentation.
• Writing Markdown-based content.
• Working in an Agile environment.
• Using source control systems, especially Git.

Responsibilities

• Own the docs for your dedicated feature set, responsible for documenting a specific area of the Postman product.
• Plan documentation in conjunction with product release cycles, working with engineers and product managers.
• Carry out editorial reviews on your docs teammates' drafts, providing constructive feedback.
• Deliver high-quality, accurate documentation that acts as an effective learning resource and aligns with content strategy guidelines.
• Liaise with stakeholders across the company to establish and address docs needs.
• Mentor other writers at Postman to teach them about processes and best practices for developing documentation.
