About the position

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a talented Senior Technical Writer to join our Veterans Affairs (VA) department. This full-time position is designed for experienced professionals who are adept at creating and managing technical documentation. The Senior Technical Writer will be responsible for writing, editing, and publishing a variety of reports and technical documents that are essential for the effective communication of technical information. This role requires a keen ability to gather, analyze, and compose technical information necessary for the preparation of user manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, and reports. In this position, the Senior Technical Writer will edit functional descriptions, system specifications, user manuals, special reports, and any other customer deliverables and documents. Conducting thorough research to ensure the use of proper technical terminology is a critical aspect of this role. The ability to translate complex technical information into clear, readable documents for both technical and non-technical personnel is essential. This position is 100% remote, but candidates should be prepared for potential travel as needed. The role is contingent upon contract award, and U.S. Citizenship is required for this specific opportunity. Selected applicants will undergo a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information, including the ability to obtain a government-granted security clearance. Responsibilities

  • Write, edit, and publish reports and technical documents.
  • Gather, analyze, and compose technical information required for preparation of user manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, reports, etc.
  • Edit functional descriptions, system specifications, user manuals, special reports, or any other customer deliverables and documents.
  • Conduct research and ensure the use of proper technical terminology.
  • Translate technical information into clear, readable documents to be used by technical and non-technical personnel.

Requirements

  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • An ability to work with multiple stakeholders who may have competing priorities.
  • Experience writing, editing, and publishing reports and technical documents.
  • Strong experience with computer-based systems.
  • Eight (8) years of professional experience.
  • BA/BS degree in a relevant field.
  • U.S. Citizenship required for this specific opportunity.
  • Must possess or qualify for a Public Trust (NACI) security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) highly preferred.
