About the position

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a talented Senior Technical Writer to join our team, specifically within the Veterans Affairs (VA) department. This full-time position is designed for experienced professionals who are adept at creating and managing technical documentation. The Senior Technical Writer will be responsible for writing, editing, and publishing a variety of reports and technical documents that are essential for the effective communication of complex information. This role requires a keen ability to gather, analyze, and compose technical information necessary for the preparation of user manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, and other critical documents. In this position, the Senior Technical Writer will conduct thorough research to ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of technical terminology used in all documentation. The ability to translate intricate technical information into clear, concise, and readable documents is crucial, as these documents will be utilized by both technical and non-technical personnel. The successful candidate will work closely with multiple stakeholders, balancing competing priorities while maintaining high standards of quality and clarity in all written materials. This role is fully remote, allowing for flexibility in work arrangements, but it may involve some travel as needed. Candidates must possess or qualify for a Public Trust security clearance (NACI) and must be U.S. citizens. This position is contingent upon contract award, and applicants selected will undergo a government security investigation to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Responsibilities

  • Write, edit, and publish reports and technical documents.
  • Gather, analyze, and compose technical information required for preparation of user manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, reports, etc.
  • Edit functional descriptions, system specifications, user manuals, special reports, or any other customer deliverables and documents.
  • Conduct research and ensure the use of proper technical terminology.
  • Translate technical information into clear, readable documents to be used by technical and non-technical personnel.

Requirements

  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders who may have competing priorities.
  • Experience writing, editing, and publishing reports and technical documents.
  • Strong experience with computer-based systems.
  • Eight (8) years of professional experience.
  • BA/BS degree in a relevant field.
  • U.S. Citizenship required for this specific opportunity.
  • Must possess or qualify for a Public Trust (NACI) security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) highly preferred.
