About the position

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a talented Senior Technical Writer to join our Veterans Affairs (VA) department. This full-time position is designed for experienced professionals who are adept at writing, editing, and publishing a variety of technical documents. The Senior Technical Writer will play a crucial role in gathering, analyzing, and composing technical information necessary for the preparation of user manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, and reports. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical writing and will be able to translate complex technical information into clear, readable documents suitable for both technical and non-technical personnel. In this role, the Senior Technical Writer will be responsible for editing functional descriptions, system specifications, user manuals, special reports, and any other customer deliverables. Conducting thorough research to ensure the use of proper technical terminology is essential. The candidate will work closely with multiple stakeholders who may have competing priorities, requiring outstanding communication skills and the ability to manage time effectively. This position is 100% remote, but candidates should be prepared for potential travel as needed. The role is contingent upon contract award, and U.S. Citizenship is required for this specific opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Write, edit, and publish reports and technical documents.
  • Gather, analyze, and compose technical information required for preparation of user manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, reports, etc.
  • Edit functional descriptions, system specifications, user manuals, special reports, or any other customer deliverables and documents.
  • Conduct research and ensure the use of proper technical terminology.
  • Translate technical information into clear, readable documents to be used by technical and non-technical personnel.

Requirements

  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • An ability to work with multiple stakeholders who may have competing priorities.
  • Experience writing, editing, and publishing reports and technical documents.
  • Strong experience with computer-based systems.
  • Eight (8) years of professional experience.
  • BA/BS degree in a relevant field.
  • U.S. Citizenship required for this specific opportunity.
  • Must possess or qualify for a Public Trust (NACI) security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) highly preferred.
