About the position

As a Senior Technical Writer at Raft, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Cyber Operations Branch program office, where your work will adhere to the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). This framework provides proven principles and practices to implement agile and DevOps methodologies at scale, ensuring that security is integrated at every phase of the software development lifecycle. Your contributions will directly impact the development of two deployable defensive cyber solutions aimed at protecting and responding to U.S. Space Force mission systems. In this position, you will be responsible for reviewing, planning, and evaluating network communications systems. You will provide essential documentation and project tracking, as well as management reporting. Your role will require you to offer both tactical and strategic input on overall network communications planning and related projects. You will rely on your extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, performing a variety of tasks that require a wide degree of creativity and technical expertise. The ideal candidate will have over ten years of experience as a Technical Writer, with a strong background in writing software development release notes, documentation for configuration management, and the creation and editing of technical documents. Collaboration within a cross-functional team is essential, as is a willingness to learn and advocate for end-users. You will need to demonstrate intellectual curiosity and empathy, along with solid communication skills. A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree is required for this position, and a Top Secret (TS) security clearance is highly preferred. Familiarity with tools such as Sketch, FIGMA, InVision, Visio, Docusaurus, and Adobe Creative Suite will be beneficial. Additionally, an understanding of Agile methodologies and the Software Development Lifecycle is important, along with relevant experience in Space Systems Command and Cyber Operations Branch.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Ten plus years' experience as a Technical Writer.
  • Experience writing software development release notes and technical documentation.
  • Ability to collaborate within a cross-functional team.
  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and empathy.
  • Solid communication skills.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Active Secret security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • A Top Secret (TS) security clearance (with SCI and SAP eligibility) is highly desired.
  • SAFe for Teams Certification.
  • Familiarity with Sketch, FIGMA, InVision, Visio, Docusaurus, Adobe Creative Suite.
