About the position

Fortinet is looking for a senior technical writer to join its documentation team. We are looking for candidates with outstanding language (writing, editing, and proofreading) skills, basic knowledge of network security, and passion for creating useful technical content for our customers. Job Description: Design, develop, and maintain partner, customer, and SE focused documentation, including: Deployment guides, Administration guides, Reference manuals, Release notes, How-to videos, QuickStart guides, Network topology diagrams, Other customer-facing, post-sales product documentation. To do this, you will: Work closely with product management, QA, and development teams to fully understand the products and their documentation requirements. Collaborate with PMs, developers, QA, and technical support to deliver accurate, up-to-date, and useful product documentation for their intended audiences. Test and verify product information for accuracy & completeness through hands-on experience with products. Respond to customer & internal requests for documentation updates in a timely manner. Be able to prioritize and balance short-term and long-term projects. Be a strong user advocate by providing feedback on product usability, and making suggestions for improvements. Acquire in-depth product knowledge quickly through hands-on experience with products and interaction with subject matter experts.

Requirements

  • Positive attitude, can-do spirit, attention to details, and passion for quality technical writing.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • A BA or BS degree, preferably in computer science, electronic engineering, MIS, English, or a related field.
  • Strong command of standard American English grammar, punctuation, and standard usage.
  • Ability to convert complex technical information into clean, concise, and coherent end-user documentation.
  • Knowledge of common cloud and network security software and hardware products and technologies.
  • Familiarity with MadCap Flare, Acrobat, HTML, CSS, XML, and Git required.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and video production tools desired.
  • Technical writing coursework, certificate, or diploma is a plus.
  • Must pass at least NSE-4 to qualify.
