About the position

The Senior Technician role involves providing direct technical field support to various customers, including contract fleets, engineering, manufacturing, and OEM clients. The position focuses on troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing complex systems efficiently while also conducting training for crews on maintenance and repair tasks. Additionally, the technician will assist in new design implementations and testing, offering insights on performance improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct technical field support to contract fleet, engineering, manufacturing, and OEM customers.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex systems in a cost-efficient manner.
  • Conduct crew training on machine maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Assist with new design implementation and testing, advising on performance and improvement ideas.
  • Demonstrate discretion in decision-making regarding equipment maintenance, repair, and warranty claims.
  • Lead a team of up to 6 people in completing upgrade and overhaul projects involving electrical, electronic, and fluid power tasks.
  • Provide work direction to operators during technical repairs.
  • Schedule machine Technician visits using EAM work order system or generated Technician lists.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of PLC and HMI software to troubleshoot equipment and software problems.
  • Diagnose and repair problems with machine control systems, including device level networks.
  • Utilize technical knowledge to troubleshoot communication networks such as Ethernet TCP/IP, Modbus, and RSNetworx for DeviceNet.
  • Analyze electrical schematics, diagrams, and drawings to service equipment and recommend design changes.
  • Design, develop, and deliver training for internal and external customers, incorporating electronic media and hands-on simulations.

Requirements

  • Experience in troubleshooting and repairing complex systems, particularly in the field of electrical, electronic, and fluid power tasks.
  • Advanced knowledge of PLC and HMI software.
  • Demonstrated experience with fluid power systems, 480 Volt AC, 3 phase power distribution, SCR drives, and 600VDC traction motors.
  • Experience in diesel mechanics and networking of multiple diesel generator units.
  • Ability to analyze electrical schematics and diagrams for servicing equipment.
  • Strong technical writing skills for developing and editing technical work instructions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with non-contact laser optic measurement and digital video & audio systems.
  • Familiarity with Lock Out Tag Out procedures.
