About the position

As a Senior Technology Solutions Engineer at McKinstry, you will play a pivotal role in our Digital Buildings Technical Services National division, which is dedicated to enhancing the efficiency, comfort, sustainability, and lifespan of buildings across the United States. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about making a significant impact in the built environment, particularly in addressing the climate crisis through innovative solutions. You will be responsible for providing technical support for Building Automation Systems (BAS) performance issues, overseeing BAS contractors and client technicians, and managing project oversight for system integration projects. Your expertise will be crucial in leveraging BAS analytics to proactively identify and optimize system operations, ultimately reducing energy consumption and improving occupant comfort. In this role, you will collaborate with a diverse team that engages with various types of buildings, including schools, hospitals, and high-rise offices. Your contributions will help drive efficiency and optimization in all aspects of building operations. You will also be a key point of contact for clients, assisting them in managing their internal projects and leading initiatives generated by McKinstry. Your excellent communication skills and technical expertise will enable you to represent McKinstry effectively to both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that clients receive the highest level of service and support for their controls-related needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for BAS performance issues.
  • Oversee BAS contractors and client technicians for BAS-related workflows.
  • Manage project oversight for system integration projects.
  • Leverage BAS analytics to identify and optimize system operations.
  • Support project management activities, including budgeting and resource planning.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for clients, assisting with internal project management.
  • Collaborate with local and enterprise-wide stakeholders to align offerings and delivery teams.

Requirements

  • Mechanical or Electrical engineering degree or equivalent work experience in the built environment.
  • 5-7+ years of BAS/controls experience, especially in programming, integration, and energy management.
  • Excellent project management and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%.
  • Understanding of building efficiency and basic design principles and standards.
  • Familiarity with IT troubleshooting in support of BAS networks.
  • Certification or experience in AX, N4, Niagara, Distech, and BACnet strongly preferred.
