The successful candidate will support an extensive digital modernization program critical to DISA. The Senior Telecom Network Engineer provides expert support to a Rapid Response Team responsible for quick responses and fixes for urgent issues, as identified. The role involves leading the planning and design of cable infrastructure systems that support the customer's strategic and operational needs. This includes conducting comprehensive site visits for data collection and evaluation of telecommunications and building technologies systems, ensuring project scopes are well-defined and met. The engineer will maintain and manage inside plant cable infrastructure, including conduit, cable trays, copper, coax, fiber optics, and all associated elements. Additionally, the engineer will develop and oversee the implementation of Engineering Installation Plans (EIPs) for the installation of cable racks, wiring, and the necessary testing during installation. Collaboration with project teams is essential to ensure that cable infrastructure designs meet all technical and regulatory requirements. The Senior Telecom Network Engineer will provide expert support to the Rapid Response Team, supporting urgent, critical VIP/Government Officer (GO) requirements, and manage network connectivity for all VIP/GO locations within JSP sites. The role also includes managing network connectivity and transport across all classification levels, performing installation, maintenance, and removal of all equipment in accordance with JSP-approved standards and architecture drawings, including encryption devices, VoIP devices, and VoSIP devices, and auxiliary power equipment. Furthermore, the engineer will manage and perform life-cycle maintenance for all transport devices and supporting equipment, patching and cabling for JSP devices in VIP/GO locations, and support the successful development and on-time delivery of customer deliverables. Regular communication with senior customer leadership and serving as the point of contact for the contract is also a key responsibility, along with reporting to Leidos leadership on contract activities.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of RCDD experience.
  • Experience as senior or lead RCDD in planning and designing cable infrastructure that supports the DoD environment.
  • Registered Communications Distribution Designer certification.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Experience conducting site visits to evaluate telecommunications and technology systems, equipment, components.
  • Strong teamwork skills that enable good working relationships with co-workers and customers.
  • Experience managing the development of multiple technical projects.
  • Experience maintaining Inside Plant cable infrastructure to include conduit, cable trays, copper, coax, fiber, and all associated elements.
  • Experience developing EIPs required for installation of cable racks, wiring of the racks and testing required during installation.
  • Must be current on codes and technologies appropriate to the telecommunications and building technologies design/construction industry.
  • Outstanding brownfield infrastructure design skills, with a strong analytical approach to problem-solving.
