About the position

The Sr Tenable Engineer will lead the Vulnerability Management System (VMS) team, overseeing a group of 3-4 Tenable Engineers. This role combines project management and people management, with approximately 30% of the time dedicated to these responsibilities. The engineer will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) in Tenable engineering, managing multiple customer-specific projects, running and scheduling vulnerability scans, and ensuring project completion. The position requires strong communication skills to interact with C-level clients and a comprehensive understanding of network architecture and API tool integration.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 3-4 Tenable Engineers.
  • Oversee multiple customer-specific projects.
  • Run and schedule vulnerability scans.
  • Coordinate project progress and completion.
  • Stand up new environments and guide customers through the setup process.
  • Communicate effectively with C-level clients and professionals.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of hands-on Tenable experience.
  • Experience standing up a new environment from scratch (2-3 times with Tenable).
  • Experience working with a scan scope of at least 100,000 IPs.
  • Experience with both agent and agent-less environments.
  • Understanding of the deployment of each element of the Tenable platform for customers.
  • Ability to configure access for other teams.
  • Experience building and configuring the tool out of the box in a customer environment.
  • Basic understanding of network architecture.
  • Experience with API integration with tools like Service Now, Okta, CyberArk, Nucleus, etc.
  • Experience overseeing multiple projects.
  • Experience running and scheduling scans.
  • Ability to manage a team.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Experience working with CISOs and other high-level professionals.
  • MS/ME/BS/BE in Cybersecurity.

Nice-to-haves

  • Rapid 7 or Qualys experience.
  • CEH certification.
  • Licensed tester.
  • CSSP Certification.
  • Additional technology-specific certifications for Tenable Nessus, Qualys, or Rapid 7.
  • Preferred VMS Certifications - GIAC Enterprise Vulnerability Assessor (GEVA), CEH, CISSP.
  • Military Cyber Commands Background.
