About the position

Highmark Health is seeking a Senior Test Engineer to join our agile scrum team, playing a crucial role in ensuring the quality of our software products. This position requires a US Citizen due to contractual and access requirements. The Senior Test Engineer will be responsible for writing, executing, analyzing, and testing software applications to build scalable solutions across all digital channels, ultimately serving our customers effectively. The role involves a comprehensive understanding of software quality and customer needs, enabling developers to create high-quality applications that align with the product vision. The incumbent will engage in every aspect of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from idea generation and business analysis to UX design and rigorous testing against industry standards for quality assurance, traceability, and compliance. A key responsibility includes developing and executing test automation code as part of ongoing regression testing standards. The Senior Test Engineer will also participate in refining the Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CICD) process, conduct code reviews, and engage in manual testing. As a subject matter expert, the incumbent will provide guidance and resolve queries from other test engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment. In this role, the Senior Test Engineer will work closely with software engineers, product analysts, and other stakeholders to understand requirements for new or enhanced features. Responsibilities include writing test case documents, test plan documents, and test results that adhere to SOC2 standards, performing peer reviews of testing artifacts, and acquiring or creating necessary test data for software quality assurance. The incumbent will also contribute to idea generation and business rules to achieve required product features, attend release activities, and coordinate release night activities for the department. As part of an agile work team, the Senior Test Engineer will participate in all scrum ceremonies, assist in sprint planning, and complete required sprints through the final execution of software applications. The role requires effective communication of any issues or blockers to the Scrum Master and monitoring work against the production schedule, providing progress updates and reporting any impediments to senior analysts or principals regularly. The position also involves mentoring junior test engineers and ensuring adherence to best practices in testing and software development.

Responsibilities

  • Write, execute, analyze, and test software products to ensure quality and scalability.
  • Develop and execute test automation code as part of ongoing regression testing standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, or a closely related field.
  • 5 years of experience writing test artifacts that adhere to SOC2 standards.
  • 1 year of experience developing test automation software according to coding and industry best practices.
  • 1 year of experience mentoring junior Test Engineers.
  • 5 years of experience writing test cases or test plans according to standard templates.
  • Strong knowledge of the full software development life cycle, including requirements, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Information Systems, Business Management, or Healthcare Administration.
  • 5 years of hands-on experience in various types of testing including Functional, UI, Integration, Negative, Database, API, and Regression Testing.
  • 2 years of experience with test management tools.
  • 2 years of experience working on Cloud platform-based applications.
