About the position

SAIC is seeking a Senior Test Engineer to support the US Navy in Crane, IN. This position involves providing engineering, logistics, design, and testing support for the update and sustainment of Operational Test Program Sets. The role requires ensuring adherence to the requirements of the Prime Item Development Specification (PIDS) and compatibility with all CASS family testers. The Senior Test Engineer will leverage their software and hardware expertise to analyze system specifications and testing requirements, ensuring that all required system parameters are tested in accordance with those specifications. In this role, the Senior Test Engineer will provide engineering and technical support in various areas including research, reverse engineering, modeling, design, development, procurement, fabrication, low-rate prototype production, test and evaluation, and repair in support of Electronic Warfare (EW) system maintenance concepts. Responsibilities will also include the modification, upgrade, installation, and assembly of components, as well as the development and preparation of technical data/documentation, manufacturing procedures, and processes. The engineer will perform Logistics Support Analyses for systems and related support equipment, ensuring conformance to current Logistics Management Information (LMI) Standards and the results of technical analyses in areas such as Design, Reliability, Maintainability, Human Engineering, Standardization, Safety, Packaging, Handling, Storage, Transportation, Cost and Time Factors, and the Logistic Support Analysis/Design Engineer Interface. Additionally, the Senior Test Engineer will assist in the development and/or review of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) planning and management documents, including Maintenance Plans, schedules, Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), early test and field data analyses programs, and contractor-generated documents. The role also involves collecting and analyzing logistic data, creating and maintaining databases of In-Service engineering data, preparing logistics data/materials to support briefings, and generating reports and associated documentation for the program. The engineer will analyze asset data and reporting requirements and make recommendations to implement improved processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering and technical support in research, reverse engineering, modeling, design, development, procurement, fabrication, low-rate prototype production, test and evaluation, and repair in support of EW system maintenance concepts.
  • Modify, upgrade, install, and assemble components as needed.
  • Develop and prepare technical data/documentation, manufacturing procedures, and processes.
  • Perform Logistics Support Analyses for systems and related support equipment to ensure conformance to current LMI Standards.
  • Assist in the development and/or review of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) planning and management documents including Maintenance Plans, schedules, ECPs, and LSA technical documents.
  • Collect and analyze logistic data and create and maintain databases of In-Service engineering data.
  • Prepare logistics data/materials to support briefings and generate reports and associated documentation for the program.
  • Analyze asset data and reporting requirements and make recommendations to implement improved processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelors and six (6) years or more of related experience or equivalent; Masters and four (4) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience.
  • Code development experience, with an emphasis in legacy languages such as FORTRAN (C/C++, Java, Python style methods do not apply).
  • Knowledge of test methodology.
  • Knowledge of analog electronics.
  • Knowledge of digital electronics.
  • Experience with test equipment (spectrum analyzer, frequency generators, etc.).
  • Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain an interim Secret clearance, and hold a final Secret clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with software versioning software, such as GIT.
  • Experience with high voltage, high power, and other hazardous environments.
  • Experience with large systems, such as Programmable Logic Controller based systems.
  • Experience with obsolescent computer platforms.
