About the position

The Senior Test Engineer position at Highmark Health is a critical role within an agile scrum team, focusing on the quality assurance of software products. The primary responsibility of the incumbent is to write, execute, analyze, and test software applications to ensure they meet the high standards required for scalability and functionality across all digital channels. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC) and involves collaboration with software engineers, product analysts, and other stakeholders to gather requirements for new or enhanced features. The Senior Test Engineer will be responsible for creating test case documents, test plans, and test results that comply with SOC2 standards, ensuring that all testing artifacts are peer-reviewed and that necessary test data is acquired or created for quality assurance purposes. In addition to testing responsibilities, the Senior Test Engineer will mentor junior test engineers, guiding them in their professional development and helping them understand the intricacies of software testing. The role also involves participating in all scrum ceremonies, assisting in sprint planning, and ensuring that all tasks are completed in accordance with the production schedule. The incumbent will be expected to communicate any issues or blockers to the Scrum Master promptly and to contribute to the product backlog by suggesting business rules that enhance product features. The position requires a strong technical acumen, particularly in developing and executing test automation code as part of ongoing regression testing standards. Familiarity with various QA automation technologies, including Java programming, Selenium, and Appium, is essential. The Senior Test Engineer will also play a key role in refining the Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CICD) process, participating in code reviews, and ensuring that the team adheres to industry best practices in software development and testing.

Responsibilities

  • Write, execute, analyze, and test software products to ensure high quality and scalability.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, product analysts, and stakeholders to understand requirements for new or enhanced features.
  • Create test case documents, test plans, and test results adhering to SOC2 standards.
  • Perform peer reviews of testing artifacts and manage necessary test data for quality assurance.
  • Mentor junior test engineers and assist in their professional development.
  • Participate in all scrum ceremonies and assist in sprint planning.
  • Communicate issues/blockers to the Scrum Master in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to the product backlog by suggesting business rules for product features.
  • Coordinate release night activities and ensure successful product updates.
  • Develop and execute test automation code as part of ongoing regression testing standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, or a closely related field.
  • 5 years of experience writing test artifacts that adhere to SOC2 standards.
  • 1 year of experience developing test automation software according to coding and industry best practices.
  • 1 year of experience mentoring junior Test Engineers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Information Systems, Business Management, or Healthcare Administration.
  • 5 years of hands-on experience in various types of testing including Functional, UI, Integration, Negative, Database, API, and Regression Testing.
  • 2 years of experience with test management tools.
  • 2 years of experience working on Cloud platform-based applications.
