About the position

The Senior Test Engineer at Highmark Health plays a crucial role within an agile scrum team, focusing on the writing, execution, analysis, and testing of software products. This position is essential for building scalable applications across various digital channels to effectively serve customers. The Senior Test Engineer is tasked with ensuring that software solutions meet high-quality standards from a software quality and customer perspective, enabling developers to create applications that align with the product vision. The role encompasses involvement in all stages of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from idea generation and business analysis to UX design and rigorous testing against industry standards for quality assurance, traceability, and compliance. The incumbent is expected to possess the technical skills necessary to develop and execute test automation code as part of ongoing regression testing standards. Participation in refining the Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CICD) process, conducting code reviews, and engaging in manual testing are also key responsibilities. As a subject matter expert, the Senior Test Engineer will provide guidance and resolve queries from other test engineers, ensuring a collaborative and efficient testing environment. In addition to technical responsibilities, the Senior Test Engineer will work closely with software engineers, product analysts, and other stakeholders to understand requirements for new or enhanced features. This includes writing test case documents, test plan documents, and test results that adhere to SOC2 standards. The role also involves mentoring junior test engineers, contributing to the product backlog, and coordinating release activities to ensure successful product updates. The Senior Test Engineer will actively participate in all scrum ceremonies, assist in sprint planning, and communicate any issues or blockers to the Scrum Master in a timely manner. Overall, this position is integral to maintaining high standards of software quality and ensuring the successful delivery of software applications.

Responsibilities

• Write, execute, analyze, and test software products to ensure high quality and compliance with industry standards.
• Develop and execute test automation code as part of ongoing regression testing standards.
• Participate in refining the CICD process and conduct code reviews.
• Mentor junior test engineers and provide guidance on testing practices.
• Collaborate with software engineers, product analysts, and stakeholders to understand requirements for new features.
• Create and maintain test case documents, test plan documents, and test results adhering to SOC2 standards.
• Attend release activities to ensure successful product updates and coordinate release night activities.
• Participate in all scrum ceremonies and assist in sprint planning and execution of software applications.
• Monitor work against production schedules and report progress and issues to senior analysts/principals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, or a closely related field.
• 5 years of experience writing test artifacts that adhere to SOC2 standards.
• 1 year of experience developing test automation software according to coding and industry best practices.
• 1 year of experience mentoring junior Test Engineers.
• 5 years of experience writing test cases or test plans according to standard templates.
• Preferred: Master's Degree in Information Systems, Business Management, or Healthcare Administration.
• 5 years of hands-on experience in various types of testing (Functional, UI, Integration, Negative, Database, API, Regression).
• 2 years of experience with test management tools and cloud platform-based applications.
