About the position

Highmark Health is seeking a Senior Test Engineer to join our agile scrum team, playing a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products. This position involves writing, executing, analyzing, and testing software applications to create scalable solutions across all digital channels for our customers. The Senior Test Engineer will adopt a software quality and customer-centric perspective, enabling developers to build high-quality applications that align with the product vision. The role encompasses participation in all stages of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from idea generation and business analysis to UX design and rigorous testing against industry standards for quality assurance, traceability, and compliance. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and executing test automation code as part of ongoing regression testing standards. This includes mentoring junior test engineers, conducting peer reviews of testing artifacts, and ensuring that all necessary test data is acquired or created for software quality assurance. The Senior Test Engineer will also engage in refining the Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CICD) process, participate in code reviews, and contribute to manual testing efforts. The role requires active involvement in scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, and the completion of required sprints, while effectively communicating any issues or blockers to the Scrum Master. In addition to technical responsibilities, the Senior Test Engineer will coordinate release activities, assist in story creation, and monitor work against production schedules, providing regular progress updates to senior analysts and principals. The position demands a strong understanding of various QA automation technologies, including Java programming, Selenium, and Appium, as well as experience with cloud build and delivery processes. The Senior Test Engineer will also be expected to contribute to the evolution of the product backlog and suggest business rules that enhance product features.

Responsibilities

  • Write and execute test case documents, test plan documents, and test results adhering to SOC2 standards.
  • Perform peer reviews of testing artifacts and mentor junior test engineers.
  • Generate ideas and suggest business rules to achieve required product features.
  • Participate in all scrum ceremonies and assist in sprint planning.
  • Communicate issues/blockers to the Scrum Master in a timely manner.
  • Create tasks for stories in RTC or Jira and update status accordingly.
  • Monitor work against production schedules and report issues to senior analysts/principals.
  • Develop and execute test automation code as part of ongoing regression testing standards.
  • Participate in refining the CICD process and conduct code reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, or a closely related field.
  • 5 years of writing test artifacts that adhere to SOC2 standards.
  • 1 year of developing test automation software according to coding and industry best practices.
  • 1 year of mentoring junior Test Engineers.
  • 5 years of writing test cases or test plans according to standard templates.
  • Strong knowledge of the full software development life cycle.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Information Systems, Business Management, or Healthcare Administration.
  • 5 years of hands-on experience in various types of testing (Functional, UI, Integration, Negative, Database, API, Regression).
  • 2 years of experience with test management tools.
  • 2 years of experience working on Cloud platform-based applications.
