About the position

Loloi Rugs is seeking a Senior Product Designer with a minimum of 6 years of design experience in the textiles industry. This senior-level role is designed for an expert designer who operates at the highest skill level and possesses an advanced level of discernment. The Senior Product Designer will be responsible for executing advanced design projects across woven, printed, and tufted categories, both independently and collaboratively. This position involves mentoring CAD Artists, overseeing projects for Assistant and Associate Product Designers, and championing brand development. The designer will communicate with customers, both internally and externally, and work closely with factories throughout the sampling process. Additionally, the Senior Product Designer will assist the management team in strategizing workloads and developing timelines to market. This artistic role requires strong communication skills, confident presentation abilities, excellent organization, and a proactive approach. The Senior Product Designer will lead the department in comprehensive market research and present trends in color and design to both the design teams and management. A deep understanding of floorcovering constructions, cost structures, and industry knowledge will empower the Senior Product Designer to make informed business decisions. Responsibilities

• Research trends in color and design, organize, and present findings to teams.
• Travel to line reviews and markets, meeting with customers as needed.
• Lead meetings, make presentations, and pitch ideas to the management team.
• Champion new creel development with an emphasis on color.
• Foster positive morale and encourage a creative working environment.
• Communicate with factories to develop new rug collections and constructions.
• Advise and mentor other members of the design team.
• Curate and set up rug collections with factories.
• Conduct competitive shopping and present market research findings.
• Assist Quality Control in the review of new products and production as needed.
• Independently execute design projects with minimal oversight.

Requirements

• Four-year degree in a design/art-related field (fine art, surface design, textile design, fashion design).
• Minimum of 6 years of textile design experience.
• Proficiency in Photoshop is required; experience with NedGraphics, PowerPoint, Illustrator, and InDesign is preferred.
• Excellent demonstrated communication skills and constructive critique skills.
• Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the home furnishings industry, floor covering markets, and key accounts.
• In-depth understanding of trends in area rugs and scatter rugs, from high-end to low-end.
• Experience in digital printing, machine-made, and handmade rugs.
