About the position

The Sr. Therapeutic Area Specialist (TAS) at Bristol Myers Squibb plays a critical role in engaging Health Care Providers (HCPs) to drive the adoption of BMS medicines within the hematology therapeutic area. This field-based position focuses on delivering a differentiated customer experience through scientific dialogue, building strong relationships with regional thought leaders and community-based physicians, and ensuring the safe and appropriate use of BMS products. The TAS is responsible for promoting approved indications, creating demand for medicines, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance customer engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes approved indications of BMS products within a defined territory to meet or exceed assigned sales targets in a compliant manner.
  • Creates demand for BMS medicines by articulating the clinical and scientific rationale for use in appropriate patients.
  • Engages with and maintains a high level of scientific expertise in all assigned products and therapeutic areas.
  • Prepares and implements comprehensive territory and account plans.
  • Uses available tools to derive insights and inform call plans, providing feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrates scientific expertise in presenting information to HCPs, ensuring medical accuracy.
  • Conducts in-office presentations and organizes external speaker programs.
  • Maintains expertise on emerging data for approved indications.
  • Engages real-time medical support to answer unsolicited questions and complex inquiries.
  • Collaborates with other field teams to ensure the best customer experience for HCPs.
  • Shares relevant insights and information internally to better serve customers.

Requirements

  • Advanced scientific degree and/or 5+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience in healthcare sales, MSL, HCP, or nursing.
  • Ability to communicate scientific or clinical data accurately to help physicians serve their patients.
  • Experience building and maintaining credibility with key customers and office staff.
  • Experience in Hematology is required.
  • Demonstrated account management skills and proven sales performance track record.
  • Ability to work effectively cross-functionally with a positive team mindset.
  • Strong selling and promotional skills.
