About the position

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Thermal Systems Engineer for our West Hartford, CT team. The Thermal Systems Engineer will work closely with customers, the Program Management organization, and other engineering disciplines in a team environment to develop and support products such as (Vapor Cycle) Environmental Control Systems (VCS/ECS) for commercial and military ground and airborne platforms, high-power motors, and embedded firmware controllers.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting and coordinating detailed phases of new product development work as the program technical lead.
  • Working directly with internal and external customers and suppliers to resolve technical issues, including presentations to company and customer executives throughout the product life cycle.
  • Defining system and component level functional, performance, and interface requirements necessary to comply with customer requirements.
  • Defining control law, built-in test, software, safety, reliability, and maintainability requirements for the product.
  • Performing system modelling and system requirements validation.
  • Performing thermal analysis of vapor cycle systems to verify the proposed design meets product performance requirements.
  • Performing system integration, design assurance testing, and qualification testing.
  • Supporting customer aircraft/system testing.
  • Providing specialized support in technical, programmatic, or team problem solving.
  • Assurance of close integration and open communication between all engineering functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. Master's Degree a plus.
  • At least 4 years of prior related Thermal Systems Engineering experience.
  • Broad technical knowledge in mechanical and thermal design and analysis, system and feedback controls performance, fluid dynamics, test engineering.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in failure analysis and troubleshooting complex systems.
  • Knowledge of thermal heat transfer or refrigeration cycles preferred.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 5%.
